The Belvedere is offering an excellent opportunity to a Building Maintenance/Caretaker who is interested in developing a long-term working relationship with the residents of an approximately 80-unit condominium building located near the Inner Harbour of Victoria, B.C.
This position would be great for an experienced, self-motivated Building Maintenance/Caretaker who: enjoys working independently; engaging in continuous learning; meeting new people, and; who enjoys the walkable lifestyle of downtown Victoria.
This is a live-in position. The Building Maintenance/Caretaker suite includes two bedrooms and two bathrooms. It is bright and well-maintained and has a monthly rental rate of $1000 per month.
Job Responsibilities:
Working independently, the Building Maintenance/Caretaker is responsible for ensuring the overall cleanliness and safety of the building by completing the full range of ongoing building maintenance and custodial duties required in a medium-sized residential building.
This includes, but is not limited to:
- Completing daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning of common areas of the building;
- Performing routine maintenance and repairs;
- Monitoring and inspecting building heating, cooling, plumbing, electrical, safety, and security systems as standards require;
- Coordinating and overseeing contracted services;
- Responding to rare emergencies outside regular working hours;
- Supporting the enforcement of building rules and regulations by building residents and visitors;
- Working collaboratively with the strata council and building residents to ensure the goals of building cleanliness and safety are achieved;
- Maintaining accurate records, using a computer as needed;
- Providing regular oral and/or written reports to the strata council.
Basic Qualifications:
- A minimum of five years' experience as a Building Maintenance/Caretaker;
- Demonstrated capacity to undertake and/or oversee building maintenance;
- Demonstrated capacity to undertake building custodial duties;
- Demonstrated capacity to operate and maintain cleaning equipment and tools.
Additional Qualifications:
- Knowledge of Strata Councils and Property Managers.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to physically perform and fulfill the various maintenance and custodial tasks.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage workload, and solve problems effectively, with minimal supervision.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Necessary technology skills as needed for managing the security system and other building systems.
- Necessary computer skills as needed for record-keeping and communicating.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation are preferable for occasional supply pickups.
Position Details:
- This is a full-time permanent position.
- $55,000-$60,000 annually.
- This is a live in position that includes a 2-bedroom caretaker suite, rent $1000 per month.
